Allfather Lloyd is a mentioned character in Dark Souls.

Lore

Gold Coin

Allfather Lloyd on the Gold Coin.

Allfather Lloyd was an uncle to Gwyn, Lord of Sunlight.[1] He is closely linked with the Way of White, and the item Lloyd's Talisman is named after him, although it is not clear if he was its creator. Allfather Lloyd's cleric knights were famous for hunting the Undead,[2] and the head bishop of the Way of White is said to be the guardian of law and caste and a known apostle to Lloyd.[1]

He is featured on the Gold Coin with a white halo on his face.[3]

He was also known to hold duels of judgment against his knights, in which verdicts were carried out by his Sword of Law.[4]

In Dark Souls III, Lloyd has been considered forgotten by the Way of White[5], and the clerics of Carim strongly assert that he was a derivative fraud, and that his "Allfather" title was self-proclaimed[6].

Trivia

  • In Norse mythology, one of the several names of chief god Odin is "Alföðr" which means "Allfather" or "Father of All".[7] Allfather Lloyd's title seems to mean the same or even been inspired by it.
  • Regarding the assertion by the clerics of Carim that he was not truly the "father of all" as his title would suggest, it must be surmised that he is either a true fraud, bears a symbolic title, or is in fact the biological progenitor of soul based life. His true nature still remains debatable.
    • It it should be noted that he was the uncle of Gwyn. This implies that he had at least one sibling, who then copulated with another lifeform, or even asexually, to produce Gwyn, directly showing that Lloyd, by definition, is not a true Allfather.
