The Archdeacon's Great Staff is a staff in Dark Souls III.

In-Game Description

Large staff bestowed upon Archdeacons of the Cathedral of the Deep.
The Archdeacon McDonnell's trespass, the sin of channeling faith for sorcery, transformed what was once merely a symbol of ecclesiastic authority into a catalyst for sorceries.
Skill: Steady Chant
Boost the strength of sorceries for a very short period. Works while equipped in either hand.

Obtained by reaching Rank 2 in the Aldrich Faithful covenant.

CharacteristicsEdit

Although it is a staff, the Archdeacon's Great Staff scales purely off of Faith rather than Intelligence. As such, it is designed to be used by builds with high amounts of Faith and utility amounts of Intelligence. Although this requires a high investment in levels into multiple stats, the benefit is that it allows high Faith builds to cast Sorceries with power on par with their Miracles. This allows it to be utilized on very unconventional builds, as both Lightning Stake and Great Heavy Soul Arrow can be cast on the same character to devastating effect.

It should not be confused with the Crystal Chime, which can cast Sorceries and Miracles based on leveling Intelligence and Faith equally, or the Izalith Staff, which is designed for Dark Sorceries. The Golden Ritual Spear is a hybrid weapon that can also function as a staff, and operates on the same principle as the Archdeacon's Great Staff. The Man-grub's Staff is another staff that scales off of a stat that is not Intelligence.
