The Cat Covenant Ring will add Forest Hunter players who wear it to an invasion queue. Those players will be sent to invade the worlds of non-Forest Hunter players who enter Darkroot Forest to kill them.
Unlike normal invasions, the Forest Hunter invasions can be performed even by hollow players from anywhere in the game world (except for those areas without an associated boss, such as Firelink Shrine or Gwynevere's chamber in Anor Londo) and functions in similar way to the Red Sign Soapstone, where those using the ring can invade anyone who is within the range of +10% to -10% of the player's soul level. The invaders lose nothing if they fail, not even their revived human state. Invaders who die will be returned to the last bonfire they rested at with all of their items, souls and humanity intact. Removing the ring when in the target's world, will not cause the player to return to their own world.
Successfully killing a player as a Forest Hunter invader will raise the Forest Hunter's rank.
The Cat Covenant Ring stays with the player if they leave or betray the Forest Hunter Covenant, although it will not function while not formally affiliated.
If the ring is lost by any means, it will reappear in the chest behind Kingseeker Frampt after reloading the game.
- It is possible to farm souls from this ring, as it can never be permanently lost. Feeding it to Kingseeker Frampt will result in 1,000 souls and the ring can then be claimed again from the chest behind him after quitting and reloading the game. The only other ring in the game to share this characteristic is the Darkmoon Blade Covenant Ring.
