Crystal Blade is a skill in Dark Souls III.

In-Game Description

Release magic for the aquamarine crystals, creating a fleeting blue crystal blade, lengthy enough to swing as a straight sword.

Description[]

The wielder flourishes the weapon, forming a blade of crystal around the dagger and holding it ready. This transformation costs no Focus Points, and reduces the wielder to walking speed while it is active.

The skill is also context-sensitive, and activating it while running, rolling or immediately after any regular attack will perform a unique transforming attack, each of them costing 8 FP (6 FP with the Farron Ring equipped):

  • The running transform attack will twirl the transformed sword along the right side while lunging forward with a thrust. Inflicts 0.8 times the weapon's Physical Attack Rating and 1.4 times its Magic Attack Rating.
  • The rolling transform attack will perform a quick flourish to the left side before swinging from left to right with the sword. Inflicts 0.8 times the weapon's Physical Attack Rating and 1.4 times its Magic Attack Rating.
  • The attack follow-up transform attack will flourish the sword on the right side before swinging it from right to the top-left. Inflicts 0.9 times the weapon's Physical Attack Rating and 1.5 times its Magic Attack Rating.

Once in its transformed mode, the weapon can perform a chain of two weak attacks or two strong attacks:

  • The transformed weak attacks will perform alternating slashes with the sword, starting from right to left. Each attack costs 2 FP to perform, and inflict 0.9 times the weapon's Physical Attack Rating and 1.5 times its Magic Attack Rating.
  • The transformed strong attacks will twirl the sword along the right before lunging forward in a thrust, then twirl it along the left before performing an angled reverse-grip stab from that direction. Each attack costs 3 FP to perform, and inflict 1.0 times the weapon's Physical Attack Rating and 1.65 times its Magic Attack Rating.

Usage[]

Single player[]

Because this skill augments the weapon's Magic damage while also slightly weakening its Physical damage, this skill is most optimally used should the wielder have high Intelligence. However, as Focus Points are a precious resource, it is ideal to try to limit the use of this skill unless a Simple-infused tool is being carried in the off-hand.

Online gameplay[]

The different timings, animations and reach on all of the trick attacks make the Aquamarine Dagger an extremely hard weapon to predict. In the hands of an aggressive player, it becomes a monster of a weapon, able to dance around foes and catch them no matter how they attempt to evade it. The lunging trick attacks can be used to chase down foes that try to roll away, and the combination weak attacks can catch people trying to outspace it.

For best results, it is ideal to combine the trick and transformation attacks with standard attacks using the dagger itself. As well, one should be very mindful of stamina consumption while using this skill, as it consumes copious amounts of stamina.
