The Crystal Shield is a medium shield in Dark Souls.
In-Game Description
- A fully crystallized straight shield. How such a weapon was created is entirely unknown.
- The crystallization boosts its defense, but makes the shield brittle. The shield cannot be used for long, as it cannot be repaired.
Availability[]
The Crystal Shield can be purchased in unlimited amounts from Domhnall of Zena for 4,000 souls. He is first found in the sewers area of the Depths, and after slaying the Gaping Dragon or ringing both bells of awakening, he will relocate to Firelink Shrine on the bridge next to the corpse where the Ring of Sacrifice is found.
Characteristics[]
The Crystal Shield has light deflection and a bash instead of a parry. It is one of three standard shields that cannot parry, the other two being the Pierce Shield and Spiked Shield.
Unlike most "crystal" weapons, the Crystal Shield's durability is quite high; even though it cannot be repaired, it will not break for a long time. It is very effective in defending against elemental attacks, including one of the highest Lightning defenses of any shield, but its Stability is outclassed by almost any upgraded metal shield, with a set 60 stability that cannot be boosted.
Resistance defense[]
Along with Physical and Elemental damage reduction, weapons also have hidden stats that reduce the amount of status build-up while blocking.
