General information[]
Returning from Dark Souls, Dark Orb is similar to the Soul Arrow family of sorceries. When cast, a large orb of darkness is fired in a straight line towards the target. It travels at a slower than average speed, and has a medium-sized range; however, this is compensated for by its large area of effect upon impact. When hit by it, it will drain stamina. If blocked then it will deal massive amount of stamina damage. Dark Orb inflicts damage roughly equal to 1.4x your staff's Dark damage.
Furthermore, this quick casting spell not only deals decent damage but also has an impressive amount of casts per slot, making it one of the best damage per slot spells in game.
Attunement milestones[]
Like all other spells, the amount of casts per slot increases upon reaching certain Attunement milestones:
Attunement Level | Amount of Casts |
---|---|
10 | 20 |
15 | 21 |
26 | 22 |
32 | 23 |
38 | 24 |
43 | 25 |
49 | 26 |
58 | 27 |
79 | 28 |
94 | 30 |
Notes[]
For unknown reason, 3-5 casts of Dark Orb in quick succession tends to glitch enemy walking animations. It causes them to look up or walk weirdly for a moment, it even causes the Old Ironclad Soldiers to hold their mace in one hand.
