Engorged Hollows, also known as Engorged Zombies, are enemies in Dark Souls.
Location
They are only found in the Painted World of Ariamis.
A passive Engorged Hollow can be found standing in the corner of a room, up a ladder, past the Bonewheel Skeleton tunnels. It drops the Fire Surge pyromancy upon death.
Description
Engorged Hollows come in two varieties, unarmed and torch-wielding. The torch-wielders attack short ranged, while the unarmed cast Fire Surge, as well as large, fireball projectiles.
They release a cloud of blood upon death which can inflict a great deal of Toxic buildup to the player if not avoided, causing 8 damage per second over 10 minutes once contracted. They can also cast a small cloud similar to Toxic Mist.
Strategies
The blood will not be released if the hollows are killed with Fire damage.
Since the Toxic discharge has a very short range, the use of a Spear can prove effective.
Backstabbing will delay the Toxin's release; however, the blood must still be avoided for a few seconds. Parrying and riposting will not work for avoiding the toxin.
Attacking with a Spear or Thrusting Sword while simultaneously blocking with the Spider Shield will block the toxic discharge.
A lethal attack with significant knockback, such as the Black Knight Greatsword's power attacks, will in general keep the toxic cloud away from the player.
