Estus Shards are miscellaneous items in Dark Souls III.
In-Game Description
- A shard soaked in Estus.
- Give to the blacksmith at the shrine to increase usages of the Estus Flask.
- In the old days, it was rare to see an Estus Flask far from its owner, but this shard offers hope, however shattered.

A total of eleven Estus Shards can be collected in a single game cycle.

Purchase the Tower Key from the Shrine Handmaid and unlock the bell tower behind the shrine. Make way upstairs and onto a bridge; drop at the middle to land on the shrine's roof. Head to the front of the building and look for an open skylight; enter it and walk along the rafters to find the shard next to the Nestling's secondary trading spot. Alternatively, the shard can be collected from the very first moment one sets foot in Firelink Shrine. Make your way to the bell tower and run toward the nearby tree close to the low rooftop, you will be able to walk up a small portion of the tree; jump to the right while at the highest point to land on the rooftop (many attempts may be required). From there, just look for the skylight on the front of the building and walk along the rafters until reaching the shard. |

| 2 | Near the end of the level, and just before reaching the big courtyard that leads to Vordt, there is a building inhabited by several Large Hollow Soldiers and three Starved Hounds. The shard is in plain sight, on top of a table near the Cell Key. |

| 4 | From the Crucifixion Woods, head toward the keep but instead of entering, follow the narrow path on the left. The shard can be found on a corner right after dropping down a ledge and before reaching two Lycanthropes resting at a campfire. |

| 6 | Found in the poison swamp, on a fallen tower guarded by several Rotten Slugs. The tower lies in front of the staircase that leads to the first brazier. |

Found at the end of a corridor filled with several Writhing Rotten Flesh. The corridor itself is located behind an illusory wall near the Old King's Antechamber bonfire. The shard can also be reached if coming from the Demon Ruins bonfire side by jumping over a gap on the floor. The jump is difficult to perform, though, and the player will fall down to an area filled with enemies if they don't manage to get across. |

| 9 | In a chest found in the main hall of the cathedral, along the left wall. The area is inhabited by groups of Deacons, several Writhing Rotten Flesh dropping from the ceiling, and a Deep Accursed. |

| 10 | From the Dancer of the Boreal Valley bonfire (High Wall of Lothric), climb up the ladder and head left toward the Consumed King's Garden. Ride the lift down and jump onto a ledge before reaching the bottom. Head right to find a corpse with the shard. |

| 11 | Once reaching the final open area that leads to the boss room, turn around and walk along the library's main dome. Keep circling it and head toward the general area behind it until reaching an archway that gives access to a segment of roof with the shard. Be careful not to get too close to the tower at the center of the dome or a trio of Gertrude's Knights will attack. |
Usage[]
Give to Blacksmith Andre in Firelink Shrine to increase usages of the Estus Flask. The shards can be allotted in either fashion regarding the Estus and Ashen Estus Flasks.
Notes[]
- The Estus Flask starts with three charges at the beginning of the game and another one is added once picking up the Ashen Estus Flask. Once all eleven shards have been collected, the Estus Flask can reach a maximum of 15 charges.
- After the Estus Flask has been upgraded for the eleventh time (for a total of 15 charges), any Estus Shards collected afterward (starting from NG+ and beyond) will have no further use whatsoever, as they cannot even be sold.
