The Aged Feather is an item in Dark Souls II.

In-Game Description

An aged bird feather.
Return to last bonfire rested at. Can be used repeatedly.
The child of the dragon, sequestered away from the world, imagined a world of boundless possibilities from the mere sight of a feather.

Usage[]

Identical to using a Homeward Bone, when used, the player is asked whether they want to return to the last bonfire. If they accept, they then kneel on the ground and teleport, surrounded by feathers. It takes considerable time to warp, and it can be interrupted by enemies. The Aged Feather and other warping items cannot be used if player or NPC invaders/phantoms are present.

It serves as a direct upgrade to Homeward Bones, the Darksign, and the Miracle Homeward as it is reusable, doesn't relinquish held souls, and doesn't require an attunement slot.

Use of the Aged Feather and other bonfire-warping items reset the area and all respawnable enemies, but it does not reset the character nor does it count as resting. This is useful in no bonfire runs as it will return the player back to the most recently lit bonfire. However, note that Estus Flasks and spell casts will not recharge as a result.

Availability[]

Notes[]

  • This item, along with the Darksign, Homeward Bones, and the Miracle Homeward will warp you back to the spawn gazebo in Things Betwixt if both the Fire Keeper's Dwelling in Things Betwixt and The Far Fire in Majula are unlit, potentially as a softlock prevention measure and/or a default warp location.
  • The Aged Feather is the last item requested by Royal Sorcerer Navlaan to complete his quest line. Just presenting the item once obtained in Dragon Aerie is enough to complete the quest, without resorting to kill the Emerald Herald.

Trivia[]

  • The Emerald Herald uses the Aged Feather to level up the player's character. The player cannot use it for this purpose, though.
  • The name of the item was changed to Feather of Estentia (needs confirmation) post patch 1.08 in the Spanish version of the game.
