Halberds are a type of weapon in Dark Souls III.

A special type of polearm, halberds possess sweeping attacks combined with long range to give their attacks strong coverage and reach. With the exception of attacks that perform thrusting attacks, they can also take advantage of Hyper Armor, meaning that Poise will allow them to engage foes inside of the arc of their blades. However, like other polearms, halberds will deal reduced damage to targets that are not hit by the head of the weapon itself.

Halberd movesets are divided into two general categories, those with sweeping weak attacks and those with thrusting weak attacks. However, in practice, only two halberds possess the thrusting moveset, the Halberd and the Red Hilted Halberd. These thrusting halberds have the advantage of attacks that inflict Thrust damage and thus benefit from Counter Attacks, however this is offset by their inability to utilize Hyper Armor with these thrusting attacks.
