Characteristics[]
The Dragonslayer Swordspear is a unique weapon with a different playstyle from other polearms.
As a cross spear, it is designed to allow for sweeping and thrusting attacks, giving it great versatility whether fighting single foes or multiple opponents, and whether in narrow corridors or in open fields. Choosing between the weak and strong attacks allows the wielder to perform both types of attacks, regardless of one-handing or two-handing the weapon.
The Dragonslayer Swordspear also requires a particular set of stats to wield effectively. Despite having respectable Faith scaling, the base Lightning damage is rather lackluster, negating any Faith invested. However, this Lightning damage can be augmented by performing its skill, launching a bolt at a distant target while buffing the weapon. This, combined with its moderate physical scaling, makes the Swordspear best suited for quality builds that invest points into Faith for utility Miracles, and less so for high Faith builds that invest little into Strength or Dexterity.
However, the Dragonslayer Swordspear's most interesting quirk is that it is the only spear in the game with Hyper Armor, meaning that unlike its brethren it can take advantage of Poise. Caution should be exercised though, as it still has the weakest Poise health out of all weapons in the game, placing it below halberds.
