For the Dark Souls III variant, see Drakeblood Knight (Dark Souls III).

Drakeblood Knights are enemies in Dark Souls II: Crown of the Sunken King.

Lore[]

The Drakeblood Knights, who worshiped the blood of dragons, were led by Sir Yorgh in a siege of the Eternal Sanctum, but sunk into the Sanctum when the sleeping dragon awoke. The red cloth wrapped around their black armor represents the sacred blood of dragons. The insignia chiseled upon their sword hilt symbolizes dragon's blood. To the Drakeblood Knights, fresh dragon blood was sacrosanct. They believed that by obtaining it, they could achieve a true understanding of life, transcending their own banal existence.

Description[]

Drakeblood Knights are suited in the Drakeblood Set with matching Drakeblood Greatsword, as well as a Spirit Tree Shield. They are player-sized, and fight similar to A.I. red phantoms, swapping between one-handing and two-handing their weapon and rolling.

Location[]

Strategy[]

A greatshield with good stability (like the Havel's Greatshield) is very useful against Drakeblood Knights, as they will stagger every time they hit it, giving the player ample time to counterattack. They will occasionally try to perform a guard break, but if the player is well built in both Endurance and Poise, they will only be slightly staggered but manage to keep their shield up. Additionally, even if the guard break was successful, the Drakeblood Knight usually won't follow it by attacking immediately.

Notes[]

  • The Drakeblood Knights have a large amount of Poise and are hard to stun.
  • Their rolls are very slow and heavy, creating a window to attack them as they recover.
  • Drakeblood knights have the ability to guard break and backstab.
