Type Heavy Armor Set

The Ivory King Set is a heavy armor set in Dark Souls II: Crown of the Ivory King.

Availability[]

Plot[]

Worn by the Burnt Ivory King, who attempted to appease the raging flames of Chaos by erecting a grand cathedral over the burning depths. One day, he set out to try and subdue the everburning fires, accompanied by his valiant knights, but they ultimately failed to conquer its power, and their flesh and armor were charred eternally. To this day, they have seized control of the flames they once tried to subdue, and they lie dormant until awoken, challenging anyone who dares to accomplish what they could not.

Characteristics[]

Offers excellent physical defenses, elemental defenses, and resistances for a relatively-light heavy armor set, especially its fire and poison resistances, which are much higher than average. For its weight, this set offers an appreciable amount of Poise.

Has a weakness against strike attacks and lightning damage.

This armor set is an overall upgrade to the Charred Loyce Set, at the cost of some increased weight.

Notes[]

  • Just like the Loyce Set, and the Charred Loyce Set, this armor set will heal female wearers upon defeating an enemy, similar to the Ring of the Evil Eye, and will stack its effect with it. Male characters do not receive this benefit.
    • There is a common misconception that the heal will only activate when killing an enemy of the opposite sex. This is not true, as almost all enemies have no gender coded for them.
  • For some reason however, the healing effect is nullified if the player is using a Wicked Eye Greatshield, as such, players wanting to use the full benefits of these armor sets are discouraged of using it.
  • Interestingly, the Butcher's Knife, which has the same effect of the aforementioned Greatshield, will still work.
