The Knight Shield is a medium shield in Dark Souls.

In-Game Description

This medium metal shield is elegantly carved and painted.

Although it is thought to have been used by ancient knights of nobility, its defense and capabilities are similar to other shields.

Availability

The Knight Shield is found on a corpse in the Undead Parish, on a side tower that overlooks Darkroot Garden. It is guarded by a Balder Knight.

A Crystal Knight Shield is dropped by a Mimic in The Duke's Archives.

Characteristics

While it may seem to be a powerful shield, due to its positioning and looks, it is actually on par with the Heater Shield while weighing more than double and having worse elemental defense and parry speed. The Tower Kite Shield or Caduceus Kite Shield sold by Andre of Astora are also superior alternatives in every respect.

The Crystal version of this shield, obtained later in the game, does have decent Stability, but its weight remains unusually heavy, making it lackluster compared to other, normal upgraded shields.

The Knight Shield has medium deflection and normal parry speed.

Resistance Defense

Along with Physical and Elemental damage reduction, weapons also have hidden stats that reduce the amount of status build-up while blocking.
