For Giants in Dark Souls II, see Giant (Dark Souls II).

Giants are both a respawning and non-respawning enemy in Dark Souls.

Description[]

Gigantic humanoids that perform various tasks in Sen's Fortress. They look identical to the Giant Blacksmith and have similar attacks.

Although they share the same name, they share only a few similarities with the Giants in Dark Souls II.

Location[]

Encountered at various points in Sen's Fortress.

  • The Gatekeeper can be found behind an illusory wall at the top of the ladder leading up from the Titanite Demons.
  • The Firebomber can be found at the very top of the fortress raining down large firebombs at the player.
  • The only respawning Giant is the one that drops the spherical boulders that are encountered throughout the Fortress. It can either be shot with a projectile or reached by taking a running leap from the bridge close to where the Crestfallen Merchant resides. As it respawns, and doesn't drop any items, it may be worthwhile to simply ignore it.

Strategy[]

When fighting a giant, hack away at the legs and dodge any of the giants attacks. This is simple, as their attacks are quite slow. After continuing this rhythm for a short while, eventually the giant will flail around angrily and stomp. This is fairly easy to block with a medium shield and easier to dodge. After the giant has finished its rampage it will crouch down leaving itself defenseless. This is the time that the player should exhaust their entire firepower on the giant.

A safe, although potentially expensive, strategy is to use the Toxic status to kill the Giants. Throwing two Dung Pies at a Giant is enough to apply the effect in NG. After the Toxin takes effect, the player must only wait until the Giant dies.
