The Mastodon Greatshield is a greatshield in Dark Souls II.
In-Game Description
- Shield of the Primal Knights that defend Drangleic castle. Very heavy, and has the power of lightning.
- The brutish and mighty Primal Knights wield this shield as if it were made of paper, but to the ordinary warrior it is a chore to even hold up, owing to its great weight.
- Whatever was created by Lord Aldia was lost with his disappearance, but the King attempted to revive these things, even if only fragments remained.

- Dropped by Primal Knights in the Doors of Pharros and Drangleic Castle.
- Rare drop from the Dark Spirit Syan Knight at Bonfire Intensity 2+ in the Forest of Fallen Giants.
Characteristics[]
Though it lacks a 100% physical damage reduction, it boasts decent elemental defenses and resistances, as well as high Stability. However, much like the other Mastodon equipment, it also boasts a high Strength requirement.
As the description states, the shield is imbued with the power of Lightning, granting it more damage potential, as well as a very high raw resistance to lightning attacks.
Infusing this shield with a Boltstone will grant it a 100% damage reduction to Lightning attacks, an effect similar to that of the Watcher's Shield, while still being able to provide a solid defense even after infusion.
