Reapers are a class of weapon in Dark Souls II. They are characterized by a generally long handle leading to a curving blade, the most common example of which is the classic Great Scythe.
Similarly to Halberds, these weapons must be used at a certain range to be effective, and some of them have part of the Halberd moveset themselves. However, the advantage of using Reapers lies in the fact that at the proper range, the weapon will completely bypass shields, making it a very attractive weapon in PvP combat, as many players often rely on shields.
They are relatively easy to parry.
