The Iron Round Shield is a medium shield in Dark Souls.

In-Game Description

Thick iron shield of Shiva of the East. Heaviest of the standard shields. Deflects enemy attacks.

A famous specimen from Shiva's collection, but none who have faced it have lived to tell the tale.

Availability

The Iron Round Shield is dropped by Shiva of the East. Killing him counts as a betrayal to the Forest Hunter covenant.

Characteristics

While it may seem defensively inferior to the Silver Knight Shield (which shares the same weight and requirements), the Iron Round Shield is capable of heavy deflection, an attribute otherwise reserved for Greatshields. It is also the only heavy deflection shield that can parry (normal parry speed). When upgraded to crystal, the durability is 28.

Resistance Defense

Along with Physical and Elemental damage reduction, weapons also have hidden stats that reduce the amount of status build-up while blocking.
