In the Painted World of Ariamis, down the well near Phalanx there will be a series of narrow passages guarded by Bonewheel Skeletons. Hidden behind an illusory wall and up a flight of stairs there is a non-aggressive Engorged Zombie, killing it will yield this pyromancy.
Fire surge is essentially a flamethrower; holding down the casting button will cause a the player to emit a continuous stream of fire. Fire Surge has next to no starting or ending lag. Players can walk while casting this pyromancy. Damage is unremarkable in short bursts but can quickly rack up on an opponent with low fire resistance.
It is easy to run out of casts with this pyromancy without moderation; however, 80 casts is usually enough to last at least one or two engagements. It is not very popular in PvE as it does not cause flinch and the fairly low damage allows monsters to retaliate. In PvP, Fire Surge is occasionally popular for punishing slower opponents and forcing them to remain on the defensive.
