The Firelink Set is a medium armor set in Dark Souls III.

In-Game Description

Armor of the Soul of Cinder, a deific manifestation of the Lords of Cinder, who linked the First Flame.
It resembles a knight's armor, but bears hideous burns and contortions.
It exists as a symbol of the great Lords and the noble act of linking the fire, though it is no more than an empty husk.

Availability

Sold by the Shrine Handmaid after defeating the Soul of Cinder.

It is not required to enter NG+ in order to buy it, although if bought in NG, a second Firelink Set will become available in NG+.

Characteristics

The Firelink Set is a very balanced set, boasting both moderate physical, and elemental absorbtion rates. In particular, attributed to it's name and origin, it has a high fire element absorbtion rate, a high resistance to frost, and is one of the lighter medium armor sets. However, it has average poise for it's weight that is only good against light weapons, and has noticeably lower resistances to strike and dark based attacks. It's other status resistances are decent for it's low weight.

Trivia

  • The Firelink Set is the same armor shown on Dark Souls III's cover, and throughout various art related to it, and is therefore the flagship armor of Dark Souls III, succeeding the Elite Knight Set from Dark Souls and the Faraam Set from Dark Souls II.
  • This set is the armor that once contained the Soul of Cinder, the amalgamation of every Lord of Cinder, including Gwyn, Lord of Cinder. Segments of the armor have similarities to the five Lords of Cinder in Dark Souls III that the Ashen One must gather, and even to the Elite Knight Armor, which some speculate that it could mean that the Chosen Undead, who once wore the armor, had linked the first flame and became the second Lord of Cinder.
