Flame God Flann is a mentioned character in Dark Souls.

Lore[]

Flann is one of the members of Gwyn's clan who resided in Anor Londo during the Age of Fire[1]. He was worshiped by the humans as the "god of flame"[1].

After Gwyn linked the First Flame and Gwyn's firstborn son was dethroned and exiled [2], Flann abandoned Anor Londo together with nearly all of the other deities and moved to an unknown location[1]. At some point he married Gwynevere, Princess of Sunlight[1] and with her he had an unknown number of children of divine lineage[3].

Trivia[]

  • Given his title of "god of flame", it is possible that humans turned to him for matters like protection from fires and earth, protection for the domestic hearth and health or as a patron of smithers and craftsmen.
  • Given the importance of the "First Flame" for both the gods and humans during the Age of Fire, and the title of Gwyn as the "god of the sun", it is possible that Flann had an important role and position inside the pantheon of Anor Londo.
