- For the Dark Souls III variant, see Profaned Flame.
Flame Swathe is a pyromancy in Dark Souls II.
In-Game Description
- One of the pyromancies devised by Straid, the great mage of ancient Olaphis. Great flames envelop and immolate faraway foes.
- Straid, always immersed in magic, never accepted an apprentice. As a result, much of his extensive knowledge is permanently lost.
Availability[]
- Sold by Straid of Olaphis for 9,500 souls.
- Very rare drop from the Bell Keepers in the Belfry Sol.
General information[]
When cast, releases a ball of flame that swirls around whilst priming itself for detonation. Shortly after coming to a stop, the ball causes a massive explosion, inflicting a very large amount of damage to any enemy caught in the large blast radius.
This has a shorter range than the various Fireball spells. However, it is one of the highest damage dealing, single hit pyromancies and has a respectable blast radius that is capable of dealing full damage to sufficiently clustered enemies. Furthermore, Flame Swathe shines against large, slow-moving enemies as they will very rarely move out of its blast.
In PvP, this spell is subpar against players as they can easily roll out of the delayed explosion. It does provide a good level of area denial (such as casting it at one's own character's feet) and can prove very useful in certain situations, such as when combined with a parry, but it should not be relied on as a primary means of dealing damage.
