The Fume Ultra Greatsword's unique "Stomp" weapon skill is identical to the skill of the Black Knight Greatsword; the player roots themself into the ground and slowly follows up with a crushing overhead smash. Unlike the Black Knight Greatsword, however, it will block incoming damage during the animation, allowing it to be used in the heat of combat without suffering the full damage of potential counterattacks.
Much like in Dark Souls II, the Fume Ultra Greatsword has the highest total damage reduction of all the ultra greatswords, and other weapons, present in the game. It also boasts an impressive amount of stability, and coupled with its high damage reductions, allow it to be used as not only a weapon, but as a reliable Shield, as well.
A solid weapon for strength-oriented players, as it scales considerably with strength and can be buffed with spells or various resins to further amplify its damage output. This weapon also possesses a very versatile moveset, varying from horizontal slashes, powerful lunges, and crushing smash attacks, making it work well in a variety of situations.
It is the only ultra greatsword in the game that inflicts exclusively strike damage, making it an effective choice for sundering heavily-armored opposition.
However, substantial investments into strength and vitality are essential to wield this monstrous weapon effectively. It is extremely heavy, at 25.5 units, and requires 50 strength (36, if two-handed) and 10 dexterity to be wielded with only one hand. It is also very slow to swing (especially its one-handed attacks) and can drain large portions of the player's stamina per swing, making it risky to use if one has low endurance.
Weapon skill overviewEdit
The player performs a quick stomp forward, increasing their poise (hyper-armor) while rooting themself in place. After the stomp, performing a strong attack will have the player slowly bring the weapon up and over them, smashing it into the ground, and flattening or heavily-staggering anything struck by it. During the animation, any attacks that connect against the weapon will be "blocked" but will still drain the player's stamina. Care should be taken not to perform this skill if one's stamina is nearly depleted.
