Golden Ritual Spear (金枝の杖槍 Kinshi no Shōsō, Spear-Staff of the Golden Bough) is a spear in Dark Souls III.
In-Game Description
- A ritual spear presented to Darkmoon Knights before Sulyvahn claimed the title of Pontiff.
- Can also be used as a staff. Sorceries cast using this weapon channel the wielder's faith.
- Skill: Steady Chant
Boost the strength of sorceries for a very short period.
Availability[]
Found in Irithyll of the Boreal Valley. From the Pontiff Sulyvahn bonfire, exit the cathedral and hug the left wall, going indoors temporarily and then going up the stairs leading to the Deacons patrolling the upper walkway. Turn around and re-enter the cathedral, then cross the bridge and turn right, leading to a Mimic that drops it.
Characteristics[]
One of the oddest weapons in the game, the Golden Ritual Spear possesses a very narrow niche and can be very difficult to utilize.
As one of the six hybrid catalyst weapons in the game, it is capable of attacking like a spear and casting spells like a staff. However, what makes this weapon so unusual is that while it casts Sorceries, its Spell Buff scales entirely off of Faith. As such, the wielder must level Intelligence solely to meet the weapon's wielding requirements and various Sorceries' casting requirements, while also leveling Faith in order to inflict actual damage with those spells. This means that the wielder must invest heavily into multiple stats simply to use this weapon. Ideally, in order to be efficient as possible Intelligence is only leveled up enough to cast moderately small spells like Great Soul Arrow and Snap Freeze, while the remaining levels are put into Faith to increase their potency.
