Great Felines are non-respawning enemies in Dark Souls.

Location[]

In a secluded area of Darkroot Garden connecting the area with the Mushroom people and the bridge leading to the Hydra past two ladders; they are perched up on a nearby, inaccessible plateau.

Description[]

Great Felines are large cat-like beasts similar in appearance to Alvina. Their size does little to hinder their speed as they can rapidly pin-point their target and perform quick strikes, such as a deadly spinning attack, which allows them to travel great distances very quickly. The slower attacks are more predictable.

Strategy[]

Staying on the outskirts can allow the player to quickly retreat behind the trees, where the Felines will not venture.

Moving along the cliff beyond Alvina's structure (when approaching from the sealed door requiring the Crest of Artorias), will eventually take the player to a ledge overlooking the area containing the Great Felines. From here, it is possible to engage them with ranged attacks or magic. The felines will be unable to pursue the player when attacking from this location.

Alternatively, if coming from the bridge, the player will be able to see the three felines at a distance before they turn hostile. The player can freely snipe the two that are further back and they won't react. The one on the front, however, will undoubtedly climb down to attack if harmed. Using poison arrows is recommended. It only takes about three to five arrows to poison them and then the player may add to the damage by using cheaper arrows.

It is safer to engage Great Felines one at a time. Venturing too close to where they are can trigger a three-versus-one encounter.
