The King's Ultra Greatsword is an ultra greatsword in Dark Souls II.

In-Game Description

An ultra greatsword forged from the soul of King Vendrick. Inflicts heavy damage on enemy armor.
Only the king knows whether the depiction of the Queen is a resentful mockery, or an affectionate exaltation.

Acquired from Weaponsmith Ornifex in exchange for the Soul of the King and 10,000 souls.

Characteristics Edit

The King's Ultra Greatsword boasts extraordinary base damage and scaling, but this comes at the cost of being the most cumbersome ultra greatsword available. It possesses only 110 Counter strength, compared to the 130 of most ultra greatswords, which can hurt the remarkable damage output in some situations.

Complementing the thinner slashing arcs compared to other ultra greatswords, this weapon deals only Strike damage and its strong attack launches most targets backward, in addition to knocking them down. The first couple of slashes are performed impressively fast for this kind of weapon and will, in most cases, stagger an enemy after the first hit, usually allowing the second one to land as well.

This weapon has 100 durability, making it very reliable for long trips. This feature is emphasized in Scholar of the First Sin, where the weapon has been given an impressive 220 durability, allowing players to practically stop worrying about it breaking apart.

In addition to this, the weapon also has a high physical damage reduction, at an 80.0% reduction, as well as a relatively-high reduction against dark damage, making it suitable for use as a shield should the player find it necessary to block incoming attacks. While it does also have an impressive amount of stability, it should be noted that, like most ultra greatswords, its magic damage reduction and resistances to the various negative status effects are extremely low.

With at least 80 Strength, this weapon deals the highest damage on a normal hit of any weapon, unless the attack is a counter.
