Lion Stance is a skill in Dark Souls III: Ashes of Ariandel.

- While in stance, use normal attack to thrust forward with shield up, and strong attack to execute a shield bash with a lion's roar.
Description[]
When held, the wielder enters a lowered stance, guarding with the shield while holding the sword at the ready. Executing a weak attack will dash forward with the shield up and ending with a strong thrusting attack; performing further weak attacks will execute the two-handed standard attacks of Valorheart starting from the second attack in the combo. Executing a strong attack will perform a strong shield bash after a short delay.

Single player[]
The weak attack dash can be useful for aggressively attacking into enemies that attempt to quickly strike at targets within range, and which are weak to Thrusting damage. And against enemies that guard with shields, the shield bash can open them up for a devastating riposte.
Online gameplay[]
The Lion Stance greatly expands Valorheart's already varied moveset, giving the wielder even more options with which to surprise opponents. As Valorheart deals entirely physical damage, shields with 100% physical damage block will completely repel any damage it inflicts, so the shield bash gives the wielder a tool with which to get around it. The dashing thrust can be used as a mix-up against players that attempt to dodge the shield bash, only to be roll-caught by the delayed thrust.
