- For the Dark Souls variant, see Magic Shield.
Magic Shield is a sorcery in Dark Souls III.
In-Game Description
- Sorcery for casters who wield swords. Reinforces left shield with magic.
- Shields augmented by magic have higher stability and damage absorption.
- Even the smallest of shields can be toughened considerably with the use of this spell.
Availability
Sold by Yoel of Londor or Orbeck of Vinheim for 4,500 souls.
Effect
Reinforces the player's left-hand shield. Increases damage absorption while increasing stability.
Bleed-through damage of all types is reduced by 30%, so weaker shields get larger absorption bonuses. For example, if a shield would normally block 50% of Fire damage, buffing it with Magic Shield would allow it to block 65%; if a shield blocks 80% of Fire damage, buffing it will cause it to block 86% of Fire damage. Therefore, bleed-through damage can never be fully negated except in cases where absorption was already at 100% (e.g., physical damage).
Effect lasts for 60 seconds. Duration can be increased via equipping a Lingering Dragoncrest Ring. Switching the weapon equipped in the off-hand away from the shield will remove the effect.
