I'm WikiaWizard and I'm a new editor to this Wikia. I've been editing on other wikis for a while now but I'm unfamiliar with how things are formatted here.
I've recently tried editing the Poison article because the "Cures" sub-heading was missing some information. As I got into it I realised continuing with its current style would have been difficult to follow. Therefore I have now changed the format to a list instead.
Would you be able to have a look and let me know what you think? I'd be more than happy to update the other pages too if the style is suitable.
You're most welcome. It's something I've been doing a while so I tend to hop between wikis when I get into game/movie/book etc.
I'm terribly sorry about that. I didn't even think to check whether there was a disambiguation page for that. I'm rather set in the ways the Amalur wiki is arranged so I should probably keep my eyes open more here!
Sorry again for the mistake. I see it's already been reverted so no harm done I hope.
Thanks for the reply and I hope to see you around!
I'm planning to split the Spin Slash page up into six different pages, as I recently did with Stomp, as there are that many variations on the WA depending on the specific weapon, and I thought I'd get some input before committing to anything.
There are six different variants on Spin Slash, split between twelve weapons:
Is there any specific naming convention I should use for these? I'm planning on doing something like:
Spin Slash (Light Curved Sword)
Spin Slash (Heavy Curved Sword)
Spin Slash (Paired Curved Swords)
Spin Slash (Curved Greatsword)
Spin Slash (Carthus Curved Greatsword)
Spin Slash (Gotthard Twinswords)
The trouble is that the "light curved sword" and "heavy curved sword" terms are ones that I made when I overhauled the curved sword pages and added their movesets some time back, and thus they're not official in any way. I could instead go with something like
Spin Slash (Scimitar)
Spin Slash (Falchion)
Spin Slash (Paired)
since the Scimitar and Falchion are the basic weapons that the others are based on, and it would be more succinct which would make them easier to understand. So before I go creating any pages, can I get some input on which way is better, or if you can offer a third option that I haven't considered?
I'd say the second approach (three pages) would be the better option in order to avoid confusion among readers. Now, if each skill needs its own page, I'll leave it to you as long as you think you can add enough information to each one in order to make them worth it; otherwise, I'd suggest to stick with a single "Spin Slash" page and simply add the three variants (scimitar, flachion and paired) as sections.
I will comply because so far you've shown a lot of enthusiasm and diligence in editing, and honest regard toward the series. However, I feel I must also mention that taking the initiative on your own and start changing a wiki's pages' names without permission just to accommodate one's personal needs is a very delicate thing to do.
You should also take into consideration that even if these names are not the most appealing, whether we like it or not, they come from the only official source available. In addition, people who come to the wiki looking for our version of an enemy or item may get confused and probably not find it because the names we use are not consistent with the rest of the sites, FAQs, videos, other wikis, etc. they also appear in.
The next time you want to move a page, please take a moment to enter our official Discord server first and discuss it with the rest of our staff members and users in order to reach a consensus that satisfies most of the community.
Like I mentioned, I will make the change because it literally takes me just a few seconds to do so, but you will have to update all the redirects leftovers on your own. However, you could also have done this yourself just by taking all the code from the Cathedral Grave Warden page and replacing it with the code on the Grave Warden (Dark Souls III) current redirect.
Yeah, to be honest I thought I was being too insistent on these changes as well. I'm more used to communicating through talk pages for this type of thing, since that's how we do things on another wiki that I contribute to (also as a matter of transparency and ease of accessibility by other users), so when nobody was responding to my posts I mistook it for lack of interest/disagreement. I've also never used Discord ever before, and I'm loathe to install a new program for each new group of people that I might want to communicate with (the only other one I use regularly is IRC).
In the future I'll be sure to stick to more straightforward edits like adding missing data or fixing factually incorrect information. I know what it's like to have a loose cannon running amok on a wiki making changes that others may not necessarily agree with, so I'll try not to be that guy here.
There's also a browser version of Discord and the registration takes just a few seconds. I used it for a couple of months and it works very well. In addition, I've seen many sites and wikis out there that now are using Discord, so it would be a wise idea giving it at least a try.
I'll post my draft here instead of the comments so it'll be easier to discuss if there are any problems, if thats okay with you of course.
By the age of Dark Souls 3 Gwyndolin has become the main figure of authority and worship in Anor Londo, which by this time is now known as Irithyll of the Boreal Valley, taking his fathers title as King of the Gods. As well as continuing to watch over those who link the Fire, Gwyndolin appeared to be tracking down descendants of the gods who fled Anor Londo millenia prior and bringing them back Irithyll. The exact reason as to why he was doing this is unknown, though it could be that he was trying to ensure that the power of the gods continued to live on.
He ruled alongside his apparent sister; Yorshka, a young crossbreed girl. Although the exact nature of their familial ties is unclear, it is known that Gwyndolin thought very highly of her as he provided her with his own personal Chime as well as her name.
A former denizen of the Painted World and ally to Saint Aldrich of the Deep; Sulyvahn, would later inflitrate the city of Irithyll and the Darkmoon system in order to usurp it from within. It is highly implied that Sulyvahn worked his way up the power system in Irithyll, all the while turning the Knights to the worship of the Deep.
Gwyndolin would later become stricken with an illness so severe that he could no longer lead his own Covenant or the city. While it is unknown exactly why he fell sick, it is possible Sulyvahn was invovled. As he was too sick to lead his own Covenant, it's leadership passed to Yorshka, who was shortly thereafter imprisoned by Sulyvahn who took complete control of the city and claimed the title of Pontiff. The God of the Darkmoon was then imprisoned himself, inside the the ruins of the old cathedral of Anor Londo.
After Aldrich was revived as a Lord of Cinder, he quickly abandoned his throne and journeyed to Irithyll in order to consume the imprisoned god. Once he arrived, he slowly began to slowly consume Gwyndolin, who was most likely powerless to fight back, both physically and spiritually, gainging access to his knowledge of Priscilla and Nito while he was dreaming. 'However, the Unkindled arrived halfway through consumption and Aldrich took control of Gwyndolins body/power in order to defend himself as he was vulnerable while consuming the god. Gwyndolin was released from his gruesome fate when the Unkindled slew the Lord of Cinder, ending the gods torment and finally allowing him to die.
I'll list my sources for you:
(First paragraph source: Yorshka's dialogue, Irithyllian character precept lore, "King of the Gods" is Gwyndolin's title in the Japanese version of the game, Irithyll is a Darkmoon city as evidenced by the images of Gwyndolins iconic Crown found in the stained glass windows of the cathedral as well the many statues of Gwyndolin throughout the area and Greirats dialogue.)
(Second paragraph source: Yorshka's Chime)
(Third paragraph sources: Soul of Pontiff Sulyvahn, Snap Freeze, Pontiff Knight Curved Sword, Cathedral of the Deep Evangelist in the Irithyll courtyard.)
(Fourth paragraph sources: Soul of Pontiff Sulyvahn, Yorshka's dialogue)
(Fifth paragraph sources: Cinders of a Lord Aldrich, Soul of the Deacons of the Deep, Darkmoon Bow, Lifehunt Scythe. The clear evidence for it being Gwyndolin's original body and not simply a new one created by Aldrich, is the sound files for the boss, the general state of the Gwyndolin body model which is decaying in many places and the cut "Gwyndolins Finger" item, which you were supposed to originally get after the fight which you could give to Yorshka who would confirm that the finger was indeed Gwyndolin's.)
The sound files depict someone in pain both during the fight and when the boss is in a non-hostile state. Aldrich would not be experiencing pain or making these noises if the body was simply one he created.
I must apologize for not making myself clear; when I asked for a draft, I only meant for the line that said Aldrich taking the appearance of Gwyndolin. In any case, I read your draft and to me it looks well sourced and well written, so I believe it could be added to the "Lore" section of Gwyndolin's page and replace the second paragraph.
Unfortunately, I'm currently occupied in some real life affairs and/or focusing on other projects to take onto my own the decision of adding your draft to the page. I recommend you to visit our official Discord server and show it to our other staff there, on the #wiki_editing channel. Just make sure to explain where it should go and advice you will be posting a big amount of text first; then ask them if they can proof-read it, and if accepted, just remind them to add all sources/references you provided.
Thanks for your contributions and please let me know how it went.
Here's what I imagine will be the last batch for the time being. Getting to the rest of the images will require me to complete my NG+2 run and then farm the Spears covenant since I don't feel like using CE to dig for them.
Good day/afternoon/night to you sir/madam (whenever this reaches you).I am a Prophet of the Lord and, if I may have a moment of your time, I wish to ask of you something about these issues that I have been having with my connections to other worlds in Drangleic.
I also apologize, I couldn't think of anywhere else to turn to. And at this point, I am rather concerned and a tad desperate.
You see, its like this.I am unable to use a normal White Sign Soapstone, if I attempt to place a sign down, it instead immediately says that I am unable to use it and the sign immediately disappears before I finish even writing it.
-The same thing applies also to both a Small White Sign Soapstone and, though I haven’t tried it yet, I assume a Red Sign Soapstone is affected the same way as well.
As a member of the Blue Sentinels, I am also unable to use Cracked Blue Eye Orbs to invade the world of those who are being attacked to help.I also haven’t tried this before, but I assume that Cracked Red Eye Orbs are behaving this way for me as well.
-This has persisted from earlier on as well, and this was when I could still use a Soapstone!
-While at the Cathedral of Blue, if I attempt to use one of the statues to find a partner to spar with, I’m instead immediately booted, I automatically switch back to my weapons, I don’t even crouch down and can freely walk around the chamber.
-It should be noted that I have been involved in a sparring match where my opponent was suffering from some very bad connection issues, and I ended up leaving the fight in a draw after their connection was severed entirely.
Now you must understand, I‘m not ignorant of how to traditionally restore my connection with other worlds.I read that a Bone of Order could help to restore my link to them. But now, whenever I try and use one, all I am given is a message that says that the bone cannot be used at the time. This has happened to me more than once, so at that point I became suspicious that something was wrong.
So, in a nutshell, it seems that I am unable to tie in to other worlds almost completely! What happened to me?Have I been banned because another person had connection problems? Have I leveled up too high?
Also, just for the record, I've never cheated the entire time I was in Drangleic! As a veteran member of this community, and a member of the Blue Sentinels, it is against everything I stand for, both in the community and otherwise!
However, I am still able to see the signs of a few people when human though, such as Benhart of Jugo for example.
I would very much appreciate any assistance you can offer me, and if you can help me to resolve this issue, I will be sincerely grateful!Thank you kindly for you time! And Godspeed to you!
Unfortunately, due to personal affairs, I haven't been able to play any games recently (nor do I plan on doing it anytime soon), so I'm afraid I'd currently be of little help regarding your connection issues.
However, I recommend you to visit our official Discord™ server, where you can meet with other staff members and common users alike in real time and possibly get a quick fix to your problem.
Not to worry, I undertand completely, and to be honest, I've also been dealing with some personal affairs myself as of now. But nevertheless, I thank you kindly for the help and I will be sure to inform you if my issues with my connections to other worlds has been restored! Good day to you!
