Orma's Greatshield is a greatshield in Dark Souls II.

In-Game Description

Shield of the knights who long ago attempted to conquer the Undead Crypt.
They bore no weapons, only a shield split into left and right halves, which they used to playfully crush their foes until their corpses were kneaded beyond recognition.
The engraving depicts two messengers from the hereafter who welcome the recently dead by reviewing the merits of their deeds in life.

Notes[]

Along with the Reeve's Greatshield, and parts of the Imperious Set, Reeve's Greatshield is dropped by Imperious Knights in the Undead Crypt.

On par with Reeve's Greatshield, Orma's Greatshield has the second highest damage output among all shields in the game at 200 (300 when maxed), behind Havel's Greatshield, at 253 (380 when maxed?).

As a pair with Reeve's Greatshield, Orma's and Reeve's Greatshields are the only shields in Dark Souls II that can be power-stanced. You can Power Stance with this and Reeve's Greatshield provided you have 50 strength. Reeve's must be in the right-hand and Orma's must be in the left-hand.

When power-stanced with Reeve's Greatshield, pressing LB will initiate a unique attack that the player character will clench the two interlocking greatshields to the front like a pair of pincers to crush enemies in between, dealing strike damage from both shields with very heavy poise damage. This move shares the same animation as the Imperious Knight's shield pincer attacks. Pressing LT will result in the same pincer attack, with higher stamina usage and damage rating. The LB pincer attacks have very high stamina usage at about 70 per use, and the LT variant about 90.

Some players reported that the LB pincer attack has a yet undetermined time frame by which enemy strikes from an angle to both sides will get deflected, but attacks from the center front are not affected.

Unlike the Imperious Knights, the "clenched shields" state at the end of the pincer attack cannot be prolonged, and does not count as blocking.

Owing to high inherent damage rating and unique Power Stance attack that delivers damage from both shields at once, the Orma's & Reeve's Greatshield pairing might be the only Shields in Dark Souls II that can be counted as a legit weapon.

When upgraded and with the right build, this shield pairing can make short work of most bosses and lightly armored players while providing solid defense; its main drawback lies in the initial long windup of its first pincer attack (same windup time as a shield bash), and in PvE its almost non-existent range means players will have a hard time following up on an attack after knocking back a medium-sized enemy due to sheer poise damage.
