Creates a cloud of mist that deals Magic damage to anything within it, including the caster.
The cloud released by Pestilent Mist deals a flat amount of damage that is not affected by armor. This makes it effective against enemies that have high magic resistance, or who are outright resistant to damage overall. As such, this is a very useful tool for sorcerers to have in their arsenal as it is also unaffected by magic adjustment, thereby making it useful for sorcerers with low intelligence. In PvP, this also makes it an effective area denial tool, as the damage is quite substantial, dissuading foes from entering it.
However, the cloud will also damage its caster, so one should not throw out clouds without good reason.
Warmth and Pestilent Mist will work against each other, as the former heals anything in range while the latter damages it. This can be used to counteract some of the healing/damage of the other spell, although it should be noted that Warmth has a considerably longer duration, but shorter casting range.
This spell is also excellent at taking down foes while invisible through Hidden Body and Spook/Slumbering Dragoncrest Ring as it draws the attention of most enemies on itself. This differs from using other spells such as Soul Arrow since when such spells are cast while hidden enemies will often follow the trajectory of the spell to its point of origin and therefore one risks being attacked.
This spell can be buffed through using Lingering Dragoncrest Ring as the extra duration of the spell will result in more damage over time.
- Pestilent Mist is one of the four sorceries required to purchase, in order for Orbeck to bestow the Slumbering Dragoncrest Ring.
- Prior to the App 1.15 patch, this spell was named "Pestilent Mercury".
