The Pierce Shield is a medium shield in Dark Souls.

In-Game Description

Shield of certain knights of Catarina, used in attacks with a large protrusion in the center.

Can be used as a thrust weapon.

Availability

The Pierce Shield is obtained by giving Siegmeyer of Catarina three Purple Moss Clumps, when he is encountered in Blighttown. Siegmeyer will spawn in Blighttown after the player helps him in Anor Londo.

Characteristics

The Pierce Shield has an overhead shield bash attack instead of a parry and has a light deflection. This shield is one of the three standard shields that cannot parry. The other two are the Crystal Shield and the Spiked Shield. This shield is one of the only two shields that has a Dexterity parameter bonus, the other being the Spiked Shield. It is also one of only four shields that has a Dexterity requirement, the other three being the Spiked Shield, Buckler and the Target Shield. This shield is one of few that does not gain additional stability when upgraded. When the Pierce Shield is upgraded to crystal the durability is 18.

Resistance Defense

Along with Physical and Elemental damage reduction, weapons also have hidden stats that reduce the amount of status build-up while blocking.
