Type Chest Armor
For the Dark Souls III variant, see Master's Attire.

The Prisoner's Tatters is a chest armor piece in Dark Souls II. It is part of the Prisoner's Set.

In-Game Description

Rags worn by imprisoned Hollows. This appears to have been worn on the body.
Judging by its looks and apparent virtues, this really is no more than a tattered scrap of cloth. It still carries the stench of a Hollow.
Effect: Raises item discovery.

Each piece can be dropped by various enemies:

It is no doubt that the combat effectiveness of this armor is incredibly questionable. The defense it provides is mediocre at best, and its weight is relatively high to it's protective capabilities; but despite this, it is not obselete. Many items in Dark Souls are obtained through drops, and items that are rare drops can be a pain to get. The Prisoner's Tatters in conjunction with the Jester's Cap and a Rusted Coin gain greatly confine the amount of time wasted on obtaining such obscurities, and reduce unwanted Soul memory.
