The Round Shield is a medium shield in Dark Souls III.
In-Game Description
- Standard round wooden shield.
- Wooden shields are light, manageable, and offer relatively high magic absorption.
- Skill: Parry
Repel an attack at the right time to follow up with a critical hit. Works while equipped in either hand.
Availability[]
- Starting equipment of the Warrior class.
- Sold by Greirat of the Undead Settlement for 1,000 souls.
Characteristics[]
With decent stability, elemental defenses, a modest Strength requirement, and the ability to parry, this medium shield suits a low-Strength or lightweight build quite ideally. It is better than most of the medium wooden shields of its class, and in terms of stability, outclasses even the lighter metal shields found early on, especially when considering the weight of the shield itself.
A solid starting shield for its respected class, and well-worth considering the purchase if one needs to remain light, but fairly protected. Care should be taken still as it lacks a 100% physical damage reduction, so chip damage will always be an occurrence to take into account.
It has a medium parry speed and consumes a moderate amount of stamina per parry - slightly more than some other shields, especially considering it is still a wooden shield. Interestingly, when two-handing the shield and then parrying, there is no delay in stamina regeneration.
Upgrades[]
Reinforced with Titanite.
