The Sellsword Twinblades (傭兵の双刀 Yōhei no Sōtō, Mercenary's Paired Swords) are paired curved swords in Dark Souls III.
In-Game Description
- Paired scimitars used by certain sellswords. The scimitars' sharp blades make for effective slashing attacks, but fare poorly against metal armor and tough scale-covered hides.
- With a scimitar in each hand, the wielder can vary their onslaught with unique left-handed attacks when in the proper stance.
- Skill: Spin Slash
Slice into foes with a large spinning motion, and continue spinning to transition into a strong attack.
Availability[]
- Starting equipment for the Mercenary class.
- Found behind the Black Knight at the far end of the swamp in Crucifixion Woods.
Characteristics[]
When one-handed, a single Sellsword Twinblade has the standard "light curved sword" moveset of the Scimitar, and has relatively unimpressive damage output. However, the true nature of these paired curved swords is brought out when the weapon is two-handed, wielding one in each hand.
The Sellsword Twinblades are notable for having a very fluid moveset, and are able to chain together the one-handed and paired attacks beautifully, allowing for very effective combo mix-ups that can potentially stunlock enemies and very well break through their guard with the proper distance.
Resin bundles synergise very well during combo chains, and will not interrupt the chain in order to be applied.
In terms of scaling and infusion, the Sellsword Twinblades strongly favor dexterity, making them a solid candidate for infusing with a Sharp Gem.

Trivia[]
- In the Alpha version of Dark Souls III, these weapons were called "Legion Scimitars" and the weapons displayed the regular Scimitar model.
- The Sellsword Twinblade is based off the shashka, which is a Russian hiltless backsword or sabre that was used by the mountain tribes of the Caucasus, during the 17~19th century.
- When a buff is applied, it's animation doesn't align with the shapes of the blades. Instead it appears straight, in a manner similar to straight swords.
