The Shadow Set is a light armor set in Dark Souls III.
In-Game Description
- Black cloth mask worn by spooks from an Eastern land. Sacrifices defense for greater mobility.
- The late King Oceiros was obsessed by dragons, to the extent that he would later be known as the Consumed King. Countless assassins were sent to end his reign, but none returned.
Availability
Found in the Consumed King's Garden, on a corpse in the Toxic ground, under the terrace at the center of the garden.
Characteristics
One of the lighter armor sets in the game and also one of the main breaking points in terms of protective gear, the Shadow Set is an overall improvement over almost all other light armor sets, generally providing higher defenses in almost all regards while still retaining a lighter weight. In addition to this, its pieces in conjunction provide very good resistances against most status ailments, only falling a bit short at preventing Bleed.
The Shadow Set is sort of an opposite to the Worker Set, completely outperforming the chest, hands and legs pieces in terms of both weight and defense.
The gauntlets in particular surpass many hand armor pieces from other sets, like the Fire Keeper, Cleric, Sorcerer, or the aforementioned Worker Gloves. They get, however, eventually surpassed themselves by certain other hands gear.
The leggings outclass the Conjurator Boots and the Worker Trousers.
If the player is skilled enough and manages to defeat the Dancer of the Boreal Valley early in the game, they can then head to the Consumed King's Garden and get their hands on this set near the beginning of a playthrough, potentially benefiting from its special features even before exploring the Undead Settlement.
