The Sorcerer's Staff is a staff in Dark Souls III.

In-Game Description

Staff used to cast sorceries. A common catalyst given to sorcerers of the Vinheim Dragon School.
Equip a catalyst to use sorceries. Sorceries must be attuned at a bonfire before use.
Skill: Steady Chant
Boost the strength of sorceries for a very short period. Works while equipped in either hand.



Sorcerers and Assassins automatically start with it. Even though it is a starting staff, with good stat investment and reinforcements, it can carry a player throughout most of the game.

It holds up as the best staff if players wish to stop leveling Intelligence at level 50.

It has a reliable damage output, and at maximum reinforcement and 60 Intelligence, it ranks second only to the Court Sorcerer's Staff.


Reinforced with regular Titanite.


  • Despite being the starting staff, it is indeed one of the top tier staves in the game, up until level 50 of Intelligence. Beyond that it is second only to the Court Sorcerer's Staff by only a slight amount.


  • This is the only staff that has been present throughout all three games in the Dark Souls series and it was always the starting equipment for the Sorcerer starting class.
