Wpn Winged Spear

Thrust is a damage type that can be inflicted in Dark Souls.

General information[]

Thrust Damage is one of four physical damage types. It can be dealt by many weapon types and is encountered in many areas of the World.

Nearly every spear and thrusting sword deal Thrust Damage. Some also deal Regular Damage as part of their moveset. Thrusting can also be performed by other weapon types, as a secondary move, and is typically activated by a weapon's Strong Attack. Nearly all ammunition deal Thrust Damage and are used with bows and crossbows.

Defense[]

Physical Def To lower Thrust Damage, it is necessary to raise the Thrust Defense stat.

Stats[]

At lower levels, increasing any stat while leveling up will raise Thrust Defense to some degree, however, Resistance will raise it more than any other.

Equipment[]

Armor[]

As a general rule, the heavier an armor piece is, the higher its defense against Physical damage it will be.

Of the starting armor sets, the Knight Set offers the highest Thrust Defense.

Light armor sets are not the best choice to reduce Thrust Damage. The Lord's Blade Set and Xanthous Set are the heaviest of all light armors, and therefore offer higher defense against Thrust Damage. Lighter armor sets that offer very good Thrust Defense for their weight are the fully upgraded Crimson Set and Big Hat's Set.

Within medium armor sets, the fully upgraded Steel Set and Cleric Set are good choices for Thrust Defense. Ornstein's Set does not need to be upgraded and offers a good alternative.

Heavy armor sets offer the best choices when raising Physical defenses. Smough's Set, Havel's Set and the fully upgraded Giant Set are excellent choices.

Rings[]

The Ring of Steel Protection raises all forms of Physical Defense.

Shields[]

Unlike armor, shields modify damage based on a percentage and all forms of Physical Damage are affected by its single modifier. Many of the standard shields and greatshields protect against 100% of Physical Damage; the Knight Shield, Black Iron Greatshield and Hollow Soldier Shield are examples of these.

Weapons[]

Many weapons and ammunition deal only Thrust Damage, however, some weapons deal Thrust in addition to Regular or Slash Damage based upon what attack is used out of its moveset.
