The Tower Shield is a greatshield in Dark Souls II.
In-Game Description
- A metal greatshield. Very heavy, and requiring great strength to handle, but provides excellent defense.
- One requires strength to handle a greatshield, but they are very stable. In battle, one fights using shield bash instead of parrying.
Availability
Found directly after the Old Dragonslayer boss fight. The Tower Shield is in one of the two chests in the area after the boss fight-arena, next to where Blue Sentinel Targray is standing.
Characteristics
This is easily one of the best greatshields in the game, mainly due to the fact that it is available to the player from very early on; however, it still performs fantastically, mostly due to the fact that it has the second highest Stability of any shield in-game, capped at 78 when at +10. It is also the third lightest greatshield in the game.
Trivia
- This shield can be seen being used by the Royal Guard in Drangleic Castle.
- Based on their respective descriptions, it is more than likely that this greatshield and the Greatshield of Glory were mislabeled, as well as their descriptions were switched. This greatshield is used by the Royal Guards in Drangleic Castle, which are clad in the Syan's Set, based on the armor Sir Syan donned to battle; which would make sense as the Greatshield of Glory's description speaks of him.
- Also, the mislabeled Greatshield of Glory, used by the Drakekeepers, has a design which is too specifically similar to the original Tower Shield from Dark Souls.
