Unfaltering Prayer is a skill in Dark Souls III.

In-Game Description

Temporarily increase poise while casting miracles, preventing enemy attacks from interrupting prayer. Works while equipped in either hand.

Description[]

Grants the user temporary Hyper Armor, which prevents them from being staggered when casting Miracles. Different Talismans provide varying amounts of Poise health as follows:

Talisman Poise Health
Saint's Talisman 30
Canvas Talisman, Sunless Talisman, Talisman 60
Sunlight Talisman 120

Poise Damage incurred during Unfaltering Prayer cannot be mitigated by Poise, so equipped armor will not increase its effectiveness.

Usage[]

Single Player[]

Generally, Unfaltering Prayer should only be used when attempting to cast an offensive spell that requires trading with a foe, as Miracles can otherwise be cast in peace by moving outside of the aggro range of enemies. However, trading against enemies is not advised, rather it is a better idea to manipulate their AI to dodge their attacks and then cast while they are unable to retaliate.

Online gameplay[]

This skill is crucial for being able to inflict any damage with Miracles that require the caster to be at point-blank range, such as Lightning Stake and Lightning Storm. Under normal circumstances, one should attempt to use this skill in such a way that only one attack from greatsword-sized weapons or larger is incurred in the process, as any more risks taking more damage than the opposing player or being Poise-broken; similarly, multiple opponents attacking simultaneously can easily stagger a caster out of this skill, wasting FP and costing time and HP. It is also important to remember that in order for a trade to be successful, the Miracle used must inflict damage greater than that incurred by the caster, meaning that a high amount of Faith and using the proper catalyst is usually necessary for this skill to be useful.

When used to cast Miracles that require the player to remain stationary for a long period of time such as Great Heal or Divine Pillars of Light, it is important to place one's back against an object if possible, as smart opponents can simply run around and backstab the caster.
