I'm currently going through NG with a Cleric, focusing on Faith and Strength. I've been using the Large Club for the past week or so, and while I'm still just getting used to it, what other weapons would you folks recommend, for PvE as well as PvP? Specifically, is there another weapon that scales with strength which offers better DPS than the large club?
My PvE style has been to use lightning spear and great lightning spear to kill most enemies from a distance (with the dusk ring I get plenty of spells to throw), and to use my large club when they block my spells or otherwise force me to close in. Wrath of the gods as a last resort when surrounded or just farming items.
My PvP style thus far has been to start with great lightning spear, clo…Read more >
Looking at , I suggest we add a new sub-category Gameplay Mechanics Missing Data.
There are presently few gameplay mechanics pages that would fall into this sub-category, as the editors have done a marvelous job fleshing out this wiki, so it may not be worthwhile to make it for the current pages. However, as Dark Souls 2 comes out there will be a lot of work to do, and this proposed sub-category will see a lot of use.Read more >
I just created an article Chaos discussing the gameplay mechanic, as well as the other aspects of the game the term relates to. Originally it was modeled after the Divine article, however as I continued to work on it I compiled a lot of lore and I'm not sure whether it should all be placed in one article or multiple articles.
First there is the damage stat, which I think is covered adequately in the article.
Then there is the cultural impact of Chaos. Consider the Daughters of Chaos: they took their name from a pre-existing aspect of their world. Also consider Chaos weapons: master blacksmiths of Izalith produced weapons with qualities of Chaos. All of this took place prior to the fall of Izalith, and even before the defeat of the everlastin…

Trying to do some planning ahead, as to how I want to level up my first character and what equipment to use. Below is what I have put together so far. The mugenmonkey site doesn't seem to account for armor upgrades, but it's as close as I could make it online.
I'm thinking to upgrade my Halberd along the standard path to +15, and the Effigy Shield upgrade along the magic path to +10. Below is the armor I'm looking at.
Armor Piece Physical Defense Elemental Defense Resistances Weight
Regular Strike Slash Thrust Sorcery Fire Lightning Poise Bleed Poison Curse
Gargoyle Helm +5 23.2 19.1 29.5 21.2 23.3 23 23.3 8 27.9 24.1 0 3.5
Dingy Robe +10 55.7 69.6 55.7 55.7 79.9 46 60.5 0 49 36.4 49 3

Hello again! :) For those of you playing on a PS3, I'd like to make your acquaintance!
As some of you may have noticed from my earlier questions and comments, I come from the Final Fantasy MMORPG genre, and so my character seems very lonely running around this big empty world. Soul farming may go even faster with two players. Perhaps we could build team tactics to take down tough opponents and mini-bosses, for example. I’d like to try more co-op at the very least for the sake of having some company while killing and exploring.
I’d also be interested in some friendly PvP. Other newbies are welcome, as are the more experienced players; with the intention being not to parry-spam or 1-hit kill one another but to improve general PvP fighting skil…
