Warcry is a skill in Dark Souls III.

In-Game Description

Let out a spirited warcry that temporarily boosts attack, and enables a special consecutive strong attack.

Description[]

The player will let out a shout that staggers nearby enemies, boosts all damage dealt with their weapon, and grants a special strong attack for a short period of time. Care should be taken, though, as the shout may attract nearby enemies.

Warcry counts as an applied buff, and will overwrite and be overwritten by other weapon buffs and resins, such as Blessed Weapon and Charcoal Pine Resin. Due to being a weapon skill and not a spell, it is not affected by the Lingering Dragoncrest Ring.

Infused weapons that cannot be normally buffed can still use Warcry. However, only the physical portion of the weapon's damage will be affected.

Attack Modifiers[]

For the duration of Warcry, weapons will gain unique attacks.

For axes, both charged strong attacks will feature the player charging a good distance before attacking, shoving opponents as they do so. The second strong attack will become an upward slash.

For the Crescent Axe, its strong attacks will become the same one used by axes with the buff active (having the same aforementioned features), rather than using attacks of a halberd.

For the Club and Reinforced Club, the first strong attack will become a four-hit combo consisting of two horizontal attacks and two downward attacks. The second strong attack will remain unchanged.

For greataxes, an extra attack will be added with each strong attack. Yhorm's Great Machete will gain a unique scissor-like attack akin to Yhorm's.

Costs 20 FP per casting, regardless of weapon. However, the skill can still be casted without FP, forgoing its damage buff but retaining the initial stagger and the special strong attacks.

Usage[]

Single player[]

Useful skill overall, granting that extra damage boost needed to finish enemies with one less slash or to break the guard of those hiding behind shields. The effect lasts a very short time, though, which usually only lets the player barely get the upper hand at the beginning of a fight when dealing with a stronger foe.

Online gameplay[]

Heavily depends on the player's own fighting style. They should know exactly when to pull it off, either it is at the beginning of a duel or while in the middle of an arduous fight.

An additional benefit is the psychological impact this skill has on opponents, who tend to start fighting more defensively once they see their adversary has become stronger.
