- For the Dark Souls variant, see Whip.
- For the Dark Souls III variant, see Whip (Dark Souls III).
The Whip is a whip in Dark Souls II.
In-Game Description
- A leather whip.
Not normally used on the battlefield.
- Very effective against bare flesh, but not
against enemies with armor or like protection.
Availability
The Whip can be purchased from Laddersmith Gilligan for 1,800 souls.
In Scholar of the First Sin, a Whip can be found in the Forest of Fallen Giants at the Soldier's Rest bonfire where the Ironclad Soldier group is.
Characteristics
The Whip excels when the long reach of its attacks are used to their fullest, allowing its wielder to damage enemies that would be out of reach of other melee weapons. It is the lightest whip available. However, its attacks are linear in tracking, meaning that the attacks can easily be evaded by nimble opponents.
It is possible to strike at a somewhat higher or lower angle by tilting the camera up or down, allowing the player to hit smaller enemies a bit easier.
Oddly enough, both its one-handed weak & strong attacks are almost completely identical in animation, the only notable difference being stamina consumption.
A good tactic is to dual-wield the Whip with another quicker weapon, such as a knife, so one can swiftly strike foes that get too close.
