- For the Dark Souls variant, see Wooden Shield.
- For the Dark Souls II variant, see Wooden Shield (Dark Souls II).
The Wooden Shield is a medium shield in Dark Souls III.
In-Game Description
- A vertically elongated wooden shield decorated with a white dragon.
- Wooden shields are light, manageable, and offer relatively high magic absorption.
- Skill: Parry
Repel an attack at the right time to follow up with a critical hit.
Availability[]
- Starting equipment of the Mercenary class.
- Dropped by Hollow Soldiers who wield them.
- Road of Sacrifices
- Dropped by Sage's Prenticese.
- Cathedral of the Deep
- Dropped by Devouts of the Deep.
Characteristics[]
In terms of protection, the Round Shield or Large Leather Shield are superior in almost all regards, and all 3 shields share the same Strength requirement and are able to parry. However, the Wooden Shield is notably more stable and 1 unit of weight lighter.
Regardless, this is not a shield to adequately defend one's self from all manner of attacks throughout their playthrough, and should be replaced immediately when able.
Notes[]
- The Wooden Shield has made an appearance in each Dark Souls game to date, and though the appearance was altered in Dark Souls II to have a lion painted on the front, the version in Dark Souls III uses a higher-quality model of the original Dark Souls design.
Upgrades[]
Reinforced with Titanite.
